The hotel room above the jazz bar offered a perfect alchemy of privacy and intimacy. Adrian sat beside the piano recording booth with a glass of wine, rain streaming through the windows, waiting for the night to arrive. Nico arrived with a bottle of brandy and a nervous smile, the city traffic below them muted beneath the roof tiles.
They had agreed on the evening beforehand, chosen the room because it offered both secrecy and room for experimentation. Adrian admired the restraint in Nico's gaze, the careful way he handed Adrian the brandy and asked if they were ready. Adrian accepted the glass, then nodded. Nico hesitated.
